Our 2023 Sauvignon Blanc shows off the maritime climate that Mt Benson is famous for perfectly.

True cool climate South Australian Shiraz!
Mt Benson’s maritime influence is ideal for producing true cool climate Shiraz from our single site. Quite fruit forward, we aim to support the pepper spice characters with rich and enticing dark berry/cherry flavours. Ripe tannins are evident, but they sit softly on the palate. The style is very similar to the Gigondas AOC in the Rhone region of France, where Grenache is predominant but exhibiting similar stylistic tendencies.
2022 Reserve Syrah - $240
12 pk - $20/Btl
-
Our maritime influences are ideal for long, cool summers slowing the ripening process allowing for a softness while stepping up complexity.
Classic South Aussie earthy dark berries & plums mix with white pepper spice notes that have been beautifully worked together with subtle vanilla from older oak lead to a Syrah that is sophisticated but so imminently drinkable.
The Vineyard
In addition to the help given to the vines by Mother Nature, the dedicated team at Wave Crest Vineyard employ a carefully planned “Block to Label” management approach to the vineyard. The vineyard has been planted in a manner that ensures each block of the vineyard is planted with the grape variety that best suits the conditions in that specific area of the vineyard.
With over 46 separate blocks in the one vineyard, a natural variability in soil profile, and a range of clones and rootsocks planted, we produce 46 parcels of fruit, all with their own individuality. This allows us the opportunity to create many different batches of wine off the one vineyard, leaving the winemaker with an array of options to help produce a consistent, high quality product, year after year, while still providing the opportunity to experiment and further improve quality.
